between us. an ocean
to swim in. a blanket to hold us.
quickly, without looking i scramble to write them all down, (that which is unspoken). i place volumes on a shelf in the attic.
you planted seeds in the attic remember? prairie restoration you said. blue moon i said.
we opened another beer, and i went to bed among the moth eaten sheets.
clouds formed at the edges. precipitated bass lines and refined coffee beans ground into smiles and a momentary pause before the next poem.
